Fainges Craftworks is a small artisan wood and stone working studio based in the Coal River Valley region of Tasmania. We specialise in local species of timber, and curate and sell mineral specimens from around the world.

While we don’t hold a candle to the great renaissance artist, we do aim to extract the beauty from the raw, to see potential where others see commonality. Many of our wood pieces are made from off cuts, salvaged timber, or trees that otherwise would have been burnt or buried.
Our stones cut en cabochon come from rough slabs or chunks and have been selected to showcase rare or interesting features. We don’t specialise in high end gems, rather rare or interesting stone pieces that capture our imagination and whose beauty we want to see shine.
